Where students collaborate and ideas cross-pollinate
The Business Instructional Facility (BIF) is a state-of-the-art, collaborative space where business students learn and study. The LEED® certified building houses a popular commons area, classrooms, Career Services and academic counseling offices, Illinois MakerLab, Margolis Market Information Lab, and a 300-seat auditorium.
Students will attend many of their classes in Wohlers Hall, which features classrooms, an auditorium, and offices for faculty and staff. Wohlers Hall is located across the street from BIF and makes for convenient access for students going back-and-forth from classes. Irwin Doctoral Study Hall is adjacent to Wohlers Hall. It offers private, quiet study room and workspaces for business doctoral and post-doctoral scholars as they pursue their research and teaching activities.
Arthur Andersen Gallery
In 1913, Arthur Andersen opened doors to the history of accountancy when he established the firm bearing his name. One hundred years later, the University of Illinois Gies College of Business dedicated the Arthur Andersen Gallery, an exhibit that explores that history through the story of one of the earliest and largest public accounting firms. The Arthur Andersen Gallery was dedicated on September 27, 2013. The Gallery is located on the fourth floor of the Business Instructional Facility. A collaborative space where future business leaders come together.
Business and management education, especially at Gies Business, are defined by teamwork and hands-on learning. BIF was intentionally designed to encourage interaction and inspiration. The layout has been carefully and strategically planned to serve the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Larger, collaborative spaces are found primarily on the first floor, while students will be drawn to upper floors for classes and specialized experiences.
