Scholarships

We see promise in all Gies Business students, and we’re committed to rewarding and nurturing that promise through merit-based and need-based scholarship support. It’s one more way that we help you achieve your dreams and find your path to purpose.

Applicants to Gies Business (freshmen and transfer students) are all evaluated for scholarships based on their application for admission. There are no additional forms or applications that need to be submitted. Scholarship notifications will be available to admitted students by the end of March. 

Gies Business does not offer scholarship matches to other institutions.

Invested in student success

Undergraduate Success Lab

The Undergraduate Success Lab is located inside the Business Instructional Facility, and it is intended to serve as a designated location for students seeking academic, emotional, financial, or social support. The lab provides a platform for students to serve their classmates and help grow relationships and community within Gies College of Business.

Activities housed inside the Student Success Lab include:

  • Initial access point for student questions regarding a financial crisis, mental or physical health concerns, housing issues, and more
  • Peer advising and advising workshops
  • Peer tutoring and exam workshops
  • Study abroad information sessions and course planning

Academic Success Programs 

Programming directed at all undergraduate populations that would benefit from additional academic support, but with special attention given to students from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds. Programs in this space include:

  • Early Intervention Course Outreach 
  • College and Campus Tutoring Referral Resources 
  • Civil Discourse Class

Bertram helping build a bridge for the next generation

Jim Bertram joined Gies as an instructor of finance this fall after spending 32 years in investment banking, working for major firms like Salomon Brothers, Deutsche Bank, Banc of America Securities, and William Blair. He will be teaching Investment Banking (FIN 463) this fall and succeeding Rob Metzger as the director of the Investment Banking Academy in January.

Torelli: From civil engineer to Gies department head

Carlos Torelli will apply his engineering mindset and marketing expertise to his new role as head of the Department of Business Administration at Gies. “We have a responsibility to give back in academia at a certain point in our careers. I returned to Gies because I knew they would value my skills and my background and give me the opportunity to make an impact."
