At Gies College of Business, students have access to programs and resources that help them grow and give them added support when they need it – in academic areas and beyond.

Undergraduate Success Lab

Students get access to extra support – and can help support others – through the Undergraduate Success Lab. This lab serves as the go-to place for Gies  students seeking academic, emotional, financial, or social support. Located in the Business Instructional Facility, the Undergraduate Success Lab reinforces a community atmosphere within Gies by offering the following features:

  • First access point for student questions regarding a financial crisis, mental or physical health concerns, housing issues, and more.
  • Peer advising and advising workshops.
  • Peer tutoring and exam workshops.
  • Study abroad information sessions and course planning.
  • Success guides for time management, study skills, goal planning, and more.

Academic Success Programs 

Students have access to additional academic support through Academic Success Programs. These programs strive to connect you to engaging opportunities, comprehensive programs, and other services early in each semester to help guide you to success.

Academic Success Programs focus on giving you personalized support through the following and more:

  • Workshops
  • Early intervention
  • Personal counseling and mentoring opportunities
  • Specialized courses
  • Collaborative partnerships within Gies and across campus.

Nelson: "I formed my love for Illinois at an early age"

Dylan Nelson joins Gies this fall as an assistant professor in business administration. He was drawn to a community of people that are invested in linking questions of performance and productivity, to questions of purpose, worker experience, and workers’ job mobility.
